Bonobos suit up

Bonobos The Capstone Slim Tuxedo in Navy Herringbone / The Capstone Slim Black Shawl Collar Tuxedo

A suiting collection Barney Stinson would be proud of has launched for Fall 2014 at Bonobos. I'm beyond thrilled Bonobos asked me to do a post in partnership for their Fall launch because they have product I believe in. Considering this is the first of many future menswear posts on Britt Wilt, I should note that with my love for mixing patterns and textures, I find mens fashion just as exciting as the ladies. The guys can often be overlooked, but dapper dudes are at the forefront of fashion, and quality brands like Bonobos help to bring the beat back for the boys.

The two tuxedos above are perfect for the classic man. I enjoy the two-tone effect on The Capstone Slim tuxedo in Navy Herringbone, while the Black Shawl Collar Tux is also very masculine and timeless.

The Capstone Slim Tuxedo in Grey Honeycomb / The Capstone Slim Tuxedo in Blackwatch Plaid

For something a little more unique, texture and plaid is the name of the game. The Grey Honeycomb is the perfect visual and tangible texture to give a classic look a little flair, without sacrificing the class. Obviously, the Blackwatch Plaid is a great statement piece to have some fun with. Below are my two picks for the business suit up.

The Foundation Slim Suit in Marled Grey Tweed / The Foundation Slim - Wool Flannel in Navy

It's all about fit to obtain the perfect suiting look. "Fit is the most important detail for a suit. Marry that with classic color options and quality fabric, and you have a great looking, versatile suit for every occasion," says Dwight Fenton, Bonobos VP of Design. He also of gives these "Simple Suit Tips" to ensure your look is tailored and on point:

  • Fit starts with the shoulders: The jacket should grab your shoulders snuggly but not be overly tight. If the shoulders fit, pretty much anything else can be adjusted.
  • Length matters: To determine the appropriate length, you should be able to cup the bottom of the suit with your arms by your side.
  • Show some shirt: A flexible but general rule of thumb is to have a quarter-inch of your shirt cuff showing. If you're wearing a heavier cuff, like a French cuff, you may want to show a little more.

What improvements has Bonobos made for their Fall line?
"We've made our signature Italian wool Foundation suit even better this fall with brand new fabrics and updated interior details, including a more ergonomic interior pocket so grabbing that business card is as smooth as your first impression. A finely-tailored wool suit is warm on its own, but you can always add a topcoat into the mix. Our suits come in Standard and Slim fits, and Short, Regular and Tall sizes, so you can find the perfect fit for you."
Now who's ready to Bonobos Suit Up for Fall? It's going to be legen... wait for it... dary.
